What's in a name?!

So I thought finding a name for our little girl would be so easy...wrong! Seems like Doug and I have very different ideas on names. I'll send him lists of possible names throughout the day and he will reply with "Veto" or "No chance in (blank)-Veto" or "You can't be serious-Veto" with an occasional "like" or "stay on the list". So we have a list of names that are just okay. I keep one or two names on our list because they are my favorites and Doug has not declared any favorites just yet to me..to him they all seem so-so....who knew this would be so hard.

Ohh and here's his opinion on one particular name I sent his way:
"Death rockers (dark, pierced and tatted), a crooked-nosed scowling author, a nappy-headed princess and an enormous singer.....you honestly don't think my daughter is better than that???!!!!"

Yes...lovely...so we'll see if we can agree on a name here..fortunately we have 17 weeks left to decide.

Andy and I did the same thing. He hated some of my very favorite names. We finally got it down to six and took our list to the hospital with us. When we saw her, it was interesting to see how some names just didn't fit her. It's a tough job.

Sounds just like Eric. I was so frustrated I finally told him he had to start giving me suggestions. These boys seem to want to come up with the names on their own - like it's better coming from them?. Anyway, tell him to start giving you names so YOU can Veto or "put on a list". :)

So funny! We seriously battle about it all the time, even if when I'm not expecting (which I am, by the way) because hopefully by the time the baby comes, we have narrowed it down to 2 to choose from...one that one of us really loves, and the other that one of us will tolerate for the rest of our lives. Good luck though!

Oh yeah, but right now on the top of my list for girls are Hillary or Whitney...just thought I'd throw those out there.

I can totally relate. This time around I am glad we are having a girl because we could not come up with any boy names. Girl names have come but deciding on one together not such an easy task. Some that we agreed on were being used by friends so that took them off my list. We both agree on Elise but I guess the middle name is still up in the air. I thought we had decided on Hannah but just recently Kevin said I am not so sure. So I guess we will continue to discuss and debate on the middle name.

When pregnant with Kenyon, Kevin had a veto for many names but that is because he was thinking of all the ways the names could be made fun of by kids in school. So maybe that is what Doug is doing as well.
